Not A Gaming Podcast (Not that there's anything wrong with that!)

Just got done listening to your Episode 1 - bravo for not having anything meta! I am interested in what you guys talk about, and so all I need for cost of admission is simply to hear, "KJ and Chris are gonna be chatting about stuff" and I'm there.

I found it somewhat amusing that y'all very carefully delineated that this is not a gaming podcast...which I'm OK with, too. Did you need to make that boundary because you are worried you'll veer off somehow into the morass of RPG discussion? Is there an inexorable gravity that direction?

Anyway, gaming podcast or no, I will be there listening - I really enjoyed it, and y'all seemed very relaxed - I think not having a Grand Theme or any agenda at all helped with that relaxation.

Oh no. I don't think so. We want to make sure folks understand that this is a broad-topic show, that's all. Those who know us from the Harping Monkey might expect us to stick with gaming, and while I'm sure it will come up, we wanted to be sure that folks know that's not the main thrust of the show.

Now, Save vs. Meta at -4.

Actually, I'm pretty sure we will be veering off into RPG (and other gaming) discussion once in a while. Chris and I are involved in the first role-playing game either of us has played for at least a couple of years, after all, it wouldn't be very geeky of us to completely ignore that. We've also made some good contacts in the RPG world over the past few years, and it would be nice to flip through that Rolodex and pull out the occasional interview. Oh, and if you don't think we're going to drag Mick Bradley kicking and screaming onto the show for a guest appearance eventually, you've got another think coming.

So, we're not a gaming podcast, but we're not going to be shy about talking about whatever captures our interest, gaming included.

If I can throw my 2 cents in, since its an open forum I will. I like what I am hearing. As a gaming podcast host Ive found that after talking about RPGs for a year or so I want to branch out. SO I can understand the desire to go other places. And while I myself have that same urge, I know, that when its all said and done I will still want to talk about gaming, so I can relate to what you guys are saying. And as in agreement with all the fans of the show, We salute you oh fearless leaders, your mob of villany henchmen await.

I salute the not gaming podcast thing because, you know, I don't game. Not that I don't like listening to people who do, I like to hear anyone being passionate about anything. Passion is key. And you both have that so feel free to take me with you. I will follow.

You know, Rae, every time you say you don't game, I get this urge try and entice you to do so. But then I realize that this is rather like the macho guy saying to the lesbian "Hey, I bet with the right guy, you'd change your mind...."

To which my friend Laurie used to always say, "With the right guy, I could change *your* mind..."
So I leave off - I figure you know what you like. I just wish that somehow, things could have been different for you in the Gaming Universe.

I don't not game on purpose (if that makes sense). I just don't know anyone who does (in the non interweb world). Apart from one guy...but he didn't take the hint. I think it's that old problem of the new girl slowing everyone down with stupid questions. One of these years I'll show up unexpectedly at a convention and force you to play with me (ooer missus). Then you'll be sorry! :) :) :)

Well, that just means I need to develop and have on hand a Rae Contingency Plan for all future games. No problem.
