Post-Potter Depression

It's a sad thing, but my wife is going through a post- Harry Potter depression. He loved reading those, and alas, they are gone. Has anyone got any suggestions for her on what to attack next?

How about getting her into the Dresden Files rpg playtest. :) I seem to recall that she does not game, but this could be a good game for you to bring her into the fold.

Hey David -- good to see the masterminds' brilliant plan has finally lured you to the lair...

I've been here quite a long time actually. Chris and Kris don't know it, but many of the contractors they hired were from my holding companies. My work has just been keeping me away from posting here. ;)

I'm curious as to what a comparable series for non-geeks would be. My wife loved the Harry Potter books as well, but rarely reads anything genre related. Hell, Harry Potter may have been the first fantasy novels she's read since she was a kid. I've hard great things about Dresden, but it seems like a fairly geeky sort of book. The Golden Compass was great, but it doesn't have that same sense of magical awe and wonder that the early Potter books (and some of the latter ones) had.

Diana Wynne Jones has some good fiction, mostly genre fiction, but well written. Even the juvie books.

I have several suggestions:
The Belgariad & The Mallorean series by David Eddings
The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan

I hear the Artemis Fowl series is good for this sort of thing, actually.

The first couple of Piers Anthony's Xanth novels are pretty good. Just make sure to stop after the 3rd or if you really want to push it the 5th.
